City Information
Located at the foothills of Nilgiris, Ooty or Udhagamandalam is the most popular hill station in South blessed with panoramic undefiled beauty. The queen of hill stations, Ooty is known more for its lofty green hills, coffee plantations, gushing waterfalls, sparkling streams, golf courses, and miles and miles of tea gardens. This erstwhile British hill resort takes a traveller back to the times where life had its own pace. Currently, the place is a summer retreat drawing swarms of tourists including adventure seekers and nature lovers. To have a real flavour of the city, one should visit smaller towns like Coonoor and Kotagiri. The tour to Ooty is incomplete without a ride in the Mountain Train, trekking on the green hills, a stroll in Gardens, etc.

Mall Road
The main street in Shimla, Mall Road is a colourful shopping arcade featuring showrooms, department stores, restaurants, cafes and emporiums. Special handicraft products from the state can also be explored in the Mall area including woollen cloths, branded cloths, pottery items and jewellery.
Viceregal Lodge
Formerly the residence of British Viceroy of India, Viceregal Lodge or Rashtrapati Niwas is beautiful colonial building located on the Observatory Hills of Shimla. Presently, the complex houses Indian Institute of Advanced Study. Opposite to this lodge is Himalayan Bird Park featuring small collection of exotic pheasant, the state bird of Himachal Pradesh.
Christ Church
The second oldest church of the North India, Christ Church features the fine stain-glass windows featuring charity, faith, patience, hope, fortitude and humility. The frescoes surrounding the chapel window was designed by Lockwood Kipling, Rudyard Kipling's father.

By Air With its own small airport at Jubbarhatti, 25 km away from the city center, Shimla is connected via airways.
By Train Metered gauge railway station at Shimla connects to the nearest broad gauge station at Kalka. This stretch is a part of Mountain Railways of India, a UNESCO world heritage site. The railway line passes through 103 tunnels which is a unique experience to travel amidst the hilly terrain. The Shatabdi Express Fast Train connects Kalka to Delhi.
